It is well made – solid and sturdy. The patent date is June 30, 1868. This basket is from the Medallion series – we believe it was from the Roman Medallion series as they made a variety of Roman Medallion cameos. It is marked with the pattern number “2066” on the inside of the foot. The engraving on this piece is very nice. It is marked “MF’D & PLATED BY REED & BARTON” and also “PLATE PAT’D JUNE 30, 1868” Dimension/size – this basket is about 10 ¾” long and 8 ¼” wide and about 3” tall. The upright handle stands about 9 ¼” high. It weighs about one pound six ounces. Condition – we lightly cleaned/polished this basket but it could be polished even more. There are few minor cosmetic marks including one tiny pencil tip sized impression on the interior. Any purple tint you may see in the photos is a reflection from the camera.
