Beautiful Vintage Southwestern Mother of Pearl Carved Eagle/Thunderbird Beaded Necklace Description: Up for sale is a stunning mid-to-late 20th-century Southwestern statement necklace featuring a prominent hand-carved Mother-of-Pearl eagle/thunderbird central pendant. The reverse side beautifully shows the natural sweeping ridges and curvature of the original marine shell. The double-strand frame is meticulously strung with earthy, blue-green turquoise-colored cylinder heishi tabs accented by larger polished green round stones. The chest of the eagle is adorned with an elegant crisscross layout of tarnished metallic beads. Four matching beaded tassels complete the bottom of the pendant piece. The upper strands taper elegantly into shimmering "liquid silver" sterling silver tubular strands, which close securely via a classic vintage barrel screw clasp. This piece beautifully honors the classic jewelry styles commonly produced by Kewa (Santo Domingo), Navajo, or Zuni Pueblo artisans during the vintage Southwest trade boom.
