Numbered '201' in the lower right corner, this postcard was mailed in August 1948 from Granville, VT, to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Smick on Alloway Road in Trenton, New Jersey. Moss Glen Falls is located within the Granville Gulf Reservation in central Vermont's Green Mountains, along Route 100. The falls drop approximately 35 feet and remain a popular hiking destination today, now part of the Green Mountain National Forest corridor. Historical Notes Moss Glen Falls in Granville, Vermont has been a celebrated natural attraction since at least the early 20th century, drawing visitors traveling the scenic Route 100 corridor through the Green Mountains. The Granville Gulf State Reservation was formally protected by Vermont in 1924, ensuring the falls and surrounding gorge would remain preserved for public enjoyment. Today the site is managed cooperatively and continues to draw hikers and nature lovers, remaining essentially unchanged from how it appears in this 1948 postcard. The 1-cent Washington green stamp affixed to this card is from the Presidential series (1938-1954), consistent with the August 1948 mailing date confirmed by the Granville, VT postmark.
