Vintage Kiku-Masamune porcelain sake serving set, made in Japan and complete with its striking original illustrated presentation box. This attractive set includes a white porcelain sake carafe and four coordinating footed sake cups decorated with blue chrysanthemum motifs and gold detailing. Also included are the original Kiku-Masamune branded chopsticks, paper tag/booklet and fitted presentation-box insert. The porcelain is marked “Authentic Seal – Made in Japan.” The original outer box is particularly appealing, with large Japanese characters, chrysanthemum artwork and Kiku-Masamune branding. Printed along the bottom is information identifying Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewing Co. Ltd., Mikage, Kobe, Japan, along with the U.S. importer information. A wonderful vintage Japanese barware or display set, made especially appealing by the survival of the original packaging and accessories. The porcelain pieces otherwise present attractively, with the blue and gold decoration remaining bright. The original presentation box shows substantial age and storage wear, including staining, discoloration, rubbing, marks, creasing and edge/corner wear. The fitted interior insert also shows age and damage but remains with the set and continues to hold the pieces.
