Beautiful vintage Bakelite statement necklace, believed to date to circa 1940s, featuring six substantial round beads in rich butterscotch, honey and amber tones. This is a genuine family estate piece that belonged to my grandmother and has remained in our family. The necklace has wonderful age and character, with six large Bakelite beads individually framed by ornate metal bead caps and connected by darkened metal links. A delicate elongated-link chain completes the necklace. The Bakelite has a gorgeous warm honey/butterscotch coloration with subtle variations from bead to bead. The metal components retain their aged patina, which I have left intact rather than polishing or restoring. Bakelite Testing: Two separate beads were tested using Simichrome polish. Both produced the characteristic yellow/tan residue associated with a positive Bakelite Simichrome test. Please note that this is an at-home identification test and the necklace has not been professionally or laboratory authenticated.
