Description An antique Chinese provincial stoneware ginger jar executed with hand-painted underglaze blue decorations over an off-white celadon-tinted slip. The globular body displays a continuous folk-style river landscape scene featuring shoreline huts, jagged distant mountains, stylized trees, a small masted sailboat on horizontal water lines, a crescent moon with small clouds, and a solitary figure walking across a simple bridge structure. The upper shoulder is encircled by a painted double-ring herringbone hatch border pattern. The short, unglazed vertical collar rim shows raw clay exposed for an original missing lid. The underside base is completely flat, unprimed, and unmarked, displaying coarse clay inclusion pitting and dark kiln sand grit. This listing includes a later-added dark rosewood-stained turned wooden display stand.
