Seagull Pewter ICE SKATE  / SKATING Ornament  --- Made in Canada  --- in original box All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Arts & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad.  The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years.  The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us.   We love the superior quality, craftsmanship and design of Seagull Pewter in Canada.  This signed pewter ice skate ornament would make a perfect pendant or charm (to hang from a bracelet or a purse or tote bag).  It is signed Seagull Pewter  Canada along the bottom edge of the "shoe" on the "back" side, but we cannot find a date (most of their pieces that we have been collecting since the 1980s do have dates inscribed) ---- so we will just guess that it is from the 1980s.  This skate is under 1 1/4" tall; it is 1 5/8" wide and 1/8" thick.  There are holly leaves decorating both sides of the ice skate.  As is always the case with Seagull Pewter pieces, the detail and quality are great! It comes in its original red box with a red fuzzy liner / backing and a clear plastic lid with     SEAGULL Pewter    Made in Canada {& a flying seagull} printed in silver.  The box is 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 5/8".  It is a bit worn from age / handling / storage.  Recently we have seen some new Seagull Pewter pieces that were not made in Canada (they were imported from Asia) --- so that makes us really appreciate the exceptional craftsmanship and quality of these older pieces that were actually made in Canada. Since the pewter and the plastic lid are shiny, there are problems with reflections and glare in the photos. So, please excuse the interference from these technical issues in the photographs.  If you have any questions, please ask.
