The elasticized smocking allows for stretch. This is a used, pre-owned item. Item appears little used. The smocked panel has a touch of being stretched-out to it. Here is a vintage sundress from the 1980s: Blue and red daisies with red strawberries and red/white polka dots. Shoulder straps are elasticized. Front smocked/elastic panel at bodice/raised waist. Backside looks exactly like the front. Assumed to be made of cotton and/or a cotton/polyester blend. There is no manufacturer tag in this garment. Based upon modern day sizing, this dress is likely a size three (3) or four (4). Please note measurements on the exterior of the item: - Chest (armpit to armpit) on ONE SIDE is 11.5 inches (total 23 inches). - Length from shoulder to hem is 20.5 inches.  - Smocked panel (unstretched) on ONE SIDE is 9 inches (total 18 inches). The elasticized smocking allows for stretch. It is assumed this panel sits slightly above the waist (or at the waist, depending upon your child's height.) - This fabric has no stretch. - Please compare these measurements with clothing your child already wears. This is a used, pre-owned item. It has no rips, holes, stains, or fade. Item appears little used. Elastic shoulder straps are nice and tight. The smocked panel has a touch of being stretched-out to it. Smells clean. Item is being SOLD from a smoke-free home that does have cats.
