Oil Portraiture Painting On Offer: This rare, antique miniature portrait painting on porcelain depicts a beautiful child dressed in exquisite Renaissance attire, exuding an air of rega elegance & sophistication. The size of this porcelain plate adds to it's charm & makes it a perfect addition to any art collection.  Quality Frame in Frame Mount The inset glass covered framed portrait viewing area measures 5.75" tall x 4.75" wide.  The exterior antique wood frame measures 8.25 tall x 7.25” wide x 1.25" deep.  This depth may have indeed been necessary to house the depth of a porcelain plate vs. a tile.  Our best guess is it's a plate. Definitely hand painted porcelain. Appears to be an authentic HP oil on closest loop exam, considering the application of pure white paint highlights applied over a light background, as seen throughout her exquisitely detailed lace dress & socks, chiefly.   Numerous detailed photos provided; pls review all.   This handmade piece features an authentic, romantic  Victorian  style, showcasing the skill of the artist during the time of the grand tour period 1850-1899. Portraiture is double framed & an original one-of-a-kind scarce piece, with no reproductions or copies. The painting's subject of a small child is  likely of noble descent; certain affluent heritage, of old world European origins during the Victorian period.  Within that time only the wealthiest of society, typically european aristocracy, could afford a such a prestigious family portraiture by a  comissioned,  expert realism artist.   This sweetest young child is so very regal, from her soft blonde curly locks, big, bright blue eyes & pouty red mouth,  attired in the most elegant clothing of a vibrant blue taffeta or satin, bows & a waist sash adorning her delicate, lacy & layered white dress, down to her little white translucent socks & original Mary Jane black shoes. She's posed sitting atop a bear blanket throw, with exposed corners of the finest pink pillows; their corners peeking out from under the bear throw on each side.. The nearest corner adjacent to lower left signature is clearly embellished w/gold stitching & a hanging tassel. The entire portraiture exudes a regal aristocracy in exquiste detail.    The realism is superb, the details are exceedingly crisp, clear & very charming.  An amazing early feat of such a young subject, her portraiture captured on porcelain, is attributed to this considerably gifted British artist, Arthur James Melhuish, 1824 - 1925.  Porcelain pain ting is clearly signed within the lower left area; it's signature reads "Authur J. Melhuish"   Entire display is amazing: The porcelain portraiture plate is glass covered in mint cond. It's inset gold gilt frame is very good & surrounded by a rich, deep burgandy velvet in fine condition, no fading, no loss or issue anywhere & beautifully enhances the predominate colors of the plate including it's fair subject. The quality, thick wooden frame displays rich gold gilt earthtones of a bronze patterned color throughout & is very handsome, sturdy & strong, including all joints.
