Carefully painted “feet”, nostrils, and eyes add to its charm, as do the original plastic tusks which complete the look. This is a vintage Mid-Century Modern (MCM) ceramic elephant figurine with its trunk up and standing proudly. Made of ceramic, this majestic elephant is a unique and eye-catching collectible piece for those interested in animal figurines. The design and material used in this sculpture evoke a sense of nostalgia and artistry typical of the MCM style. The finish on this is what I would call somewhat of a satin finish (not too shiny but not dull). The elephant’s body is beautifully “textured” with sculpted lines adding to the realistic appearance. Very good condition considering this is likely from the 1960’s. A couple nicks on its left ear do not alter the basic shape of the ear, and do not stand out significantly. Tiny rough spot on ceramic behind right front leg but again insignificant. Stands about 7.25” H from foot to top of raised trunk. Width of ear span is 5” wide. Unbranded.
