One small bowl has a fleabite in the lacquer at the rim. The outside of the large bowl has a very light scrape mark that is barely noticeable. This is a beautiful Japanese red lacquered salad set, probably from around the 1960s. It is made of lightweight wood with high-gloss deep red lacquer. Each bowl has a different hand-painted design featuring Japanese architecture and landscapes. The large bowl has a scene of Mount Fuji with a lake and footbridge, and it also has painted scenes around the outside. As an added bonus, each bowl is embellished with small pieces of inlaid abalone. The spoon and fork also have hand-painted designs. The large serving bowl measures 4 inches deep and 11 inches in diameter at the rim. The six individual salad bowls measure 1.5 inches deep and 5.75 inches in diameter. CONDITION: This set is pre-loved but shows very little wear. One small bowl has a fleabite in the lacquer at the rim. Another small bowl has two little indents in the rim, as if something was pressed down on it. The outside of the large bowl has a very light scrape mark that is barely noticeable. Otherwise, this set is perfection. I don't even see any utensil marks. It doesn't look like it was ever used. Most of the vintage items in my shop are pre-loved; therefore, I do not know what type of environment they came from. I clean items when possible and appropriate, and describe them as accurately as I can, noting any flaws that I see. If you have specific questions, please feel free to send me a convo.
