Set of 8 Rosenthal China cup & saucer sets.  Purchased by my mom in the 1950's and almost never used. The cup and saucer bottoms both bear the Rosenthal hallmark (crown over "R"), "Continental China" with "Design by Raymond Loewy", "Germany," and "Charcoal." Raymond Loewy was a renowned industrial designer known for his work in the mid-20th century, including designs for German porcelain manufacturer, Rosenthal . Continental China was a line produced by Rosenthal under Loewy's design direction. Rosenthal USA's best known US import was the Continental China line, launched in 1952 and discontinued in 1975.
