Up for sale is a wonderful, highly collectible antique Victorian porcelain fairing trinket box by the celebrated German manufacturer Conta & Boehme. This piece features a beautifully sculpted, footed rectangular bed frame base with a fully figural lidded top. The Design: The lid features a sentimental, sweet Victorian scene of a blonde child tucked into a grand canopy bed, resting against a bright blue pillow. Sleeping soundly right next to the child on the floral-painted blanket is a striped tabby cat. The canopy fabric is intricately molded to look like draped cloth with orange polka-dot detailing, crowned with a gilded crest. Authentic Markings: The underside of the footed base features the hand-incised mold numbers 1021 alongside the classic impressed Conta & Boehme shield/crest mark. Dimensions: The base opening measures approximately 3 inches across (please check photos with measuring tape for exact scale). Condition Report: This piece is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. The hand-painted orange flowers, blue pillow, and cat stripes are beautifully vibrant. In keeping with authentic 19th-century German manufacturing, the piece features standard factory-original characteristics, such as the raw unglazed assembly seam and factory gilt trim over-paint on the back side of the canopy arch, as well as a tiny dark kiln pop inside the base.
