Deeply impressed clay mark: "H (star) L" mark (The Haviland and Co. structural white-ware blank foundry mark). Available for purchase is a matching set of five (5) antique salad / dessert plates by Theodore Haviland in Limoges, France. They feature a stunning bright white porcelain ground and a gold-encrusted lauren band rim. They were produced between 1894 - 1930s. Each plate features two distinct authentic markings on the reverse side: 1. Stamped in burgundy ink: "Theodore Haviland, Limoges, France" (The decorating studio mark). 2. Deeply impressed clay mark: "H (star) L" mark (The Haviland and Co. structural white-ware blank foundry mark). Four plates are in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. One plate has a small chip on the underside of the outer rim edge. This chip is located underneath, is completely hidden from view when looking straight down, and does not affect the gold gilt design at all. All plates feature bright gold gilt with only minor, light surface utensil marks consistent with age. The plates each measure 7 1/2" in diameter.
