Rooted in the ancient  Jandri  (lac-turnery) woodworking traditions of South Asia and the historic trading routes of the Silk Road, these vibrant lidded containers are masterworks of hand-lathe craftsmanship. Artisans carve solid native timber on traditional wood lathes before applying layers of natural, pigment-rich lacquer resin. Using friction heat from handheld wooden sticks, the colors are fused directly into the wood grain to create bold, lustrous geometric patterns that do not fade over time. This set features two complementary vessel forms decorated in a striking palette of crimson red, marigold yellow, jet black, and warm orange. The larger cylindrical box is adorned with intricate rows of hand-painted teardrop motifs, geometric bands, and a turned knob lid. The smaller domed companion dish features concentric ringed bands and is uniquely crowned with tiny brass  ghungroo  (chime bells) attached to its crest.
