Based on the highly legible keystone blade stamp and brass medallion styling, this piece dates to the golden era of American tool manufacturing between 1896 and 1917. Blade Condition: Blade Etch (Excellent Quality):   The original factory blade etch is remarkably clean, crisp, and fully legible. It clearly displays the "Henry Disston & Sons," "Philadelphia," and "Cast Steel Warranted" text alongside the iconic central keystone emblem. Factory Pitch Stamp:  Features the original factory "7" stamp clearly visible in the steel near the heel, confirming it as a 7 PPI (6 TPI) saw. Straightness:   Sighted directly down the spine, the spring steel blade is perfectly straight with zero kinks, twists, or bows. It tracks arrow-straight from the throat to the toe. Features Intact Blade Nib:  Includes the highly collectible, original factory "nib" on the straight-back edge near the toe, proving the blade retains its original historic shape. Dimensions:  Measures approximately 26.5 inches directly along the saw tooth cutting edge (standard factory blank size for a labeled 26" saw). Teeth:   Original factory "7" pitch stamp (7 Points Per Inch, equivalent to approximately 6 Teeth Per Inch). Handle & Hardware Condition: Wood Structure:   Authentic let-in beechwood handle. Shows wonderful character from past workshop use, including a charming, hand-engraved historic owner's letter "V"carved into the face. Top Horn Note:  The very tip of the top horn has a minor wood chip/loss as shown in the close-up macro photo. Finish:   The handle has an older clear varnish/polyurethane topcoat that is currently flaking and peeling from age. It can be used as-is or easily stripped back and oiled by a restorer. Hardware:  Secured firmly by four original brass sawnuts, including the prominent, completely legible Disston Philadelphia medallion (Type 49, PAT. DEC. 27 1887).
