A beautiful example of traditional American decorative waterfowl carving, this swan features a graceful curved neck, streamlined body, white/off-white painted finish, contrasting black bill and inset dark glass eyes. The underside retains the distinctive oval FRENCH BROAD RIVER DECOY COMPANY maker's stamp surrounding a waterfowl illustration. There are also faint handwritten markings on the unfinished wooden base. French Broad River Decoy Company was based in Saluda, North Carolina and is known for its carved and painted wooden waterfowl decoys.
