It is a type 18 and dates from just after WWII. It is clean and nice. The original japanning is 95% or better. The full length cutter is nice w/ original grind that has been honed. Note how the sole edges have a slight factory chamfer.  No structural issues. This plane saw little if any use and is a beautiful example that is ready to go to work. The one minor apology is the top of the tote was chewed by a hungry critter one day. I darkened the area with a magic marker. It is hardly noticeable.
