I ship using the U. S Postal Service as I find them the safest shipper. The shipping cost to the Midwest and far west is so much more than what I have to deal with here in the Northeast. I have struggled with doing this as I didn't want to lose my bidders/buyers west of me but it just adds up to too much money in the long run.  Please understand I do this very reluctantly, as such, I am adding 20% to anything being shipped to zip codes that begin with the number  5,6 or 7 and 33% to anything being shipped to zip codes 8 and 9. Example $40.00 regular shipping cost to zip code that begin with 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 is just that $40.00.  Zip codes that begin with 5,6 or 7 would be $40.00 times 20% which equals $8.00 which is added to the $40.00 and becomes $48.00.  Zip codes that begin with 8 or 9 would be $40.00 times 33% which is $13.20 which then becomes $53.20. These items are commensurate with age, meaning they are old. Chances are if there aren't any, it's a newer item and you shouldn't want it anyways. In other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. I really don't want to do a refund because the finial ( typically a 10.00 piece ) isn't perfect on a 2,000.00 lamp. I always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what I deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. It seems the more experienced an antique dealer or buyer is, the more understanding of condition they are. That being said, if you think you're going to be a difficult buyer because you want perfection in a 100 year old piece, please purchase another Ebay seller's product.
