Information About this Item: Vintage Mid-Century Sommerso Bowls : 1950s/1960s purple and blue layered glass pieces featuring fluid, winged, or biomorphic shell shapes (attributed to artists like Alfredo Barbini or manufactured by Cristallo Venezia CCC). It is LARGE. Approx. 22 1/4 inches wide. Lowest height in the center is approx. 4 1/2 inches. Highest point is mid wing at approx.  6 3/4 inches.  It weighs 8 pound 3.5 ounces. My parents received this item as a wedding gift in 1960. (They are both Italian.)  It was on their fireplace mantle for decades until my mom gave it to me.  We do not entertain, and this piece is too beautiful "not to be seen". No cracks or chips. One tiny pointy production flaw inside the glass bowl that cannot be seen but can be felt.  The bottom is mostly smooth, but there are some small rough areas where it touched the wooden mantle. I do remember a foil sticker on the bottom, but that fell off years ago. Coming from a smoke free home. Shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. Will ship with extra insurance.
