This is a lovely porcelain oval vegetable serving bowl, made by Charles Field Haviland in Limoges France. Looking at an angle to the light I barely see faint utensil marks on the glaze, and one small round pock mark, like a small bubble in the glaze popped. This is a lovely porcelain oval vegetable serving bowl, made by Charles Field Haviland in Limoges France. It is decorated with sprigs of delicate pale purple or lavender flowers with their greenery on the inside and outside of the dish. The edges and the porcelain are smooth, with a 3/4 inch rim. The oval bowl is 9 & 3/4 inches long and 7 & 1/4 inches wide and stands about 2 inches tall. It weighs 1 pound 3 ounces and holds about 2 & 1/2 cups. The green backstamp under the glaze, with GDA France was used starting in 1900 to the 1940’s. The red decorator mark was used from 1900 to 1941, so this bowl is somewhere around 85 to 126 years old. This serving bowl is so lovely with such a pretty lavender floral design. It is in excellent antique shape, with no chips, cracks, crazing or stains. Looking at an angle to the light I barely see faint utensil marks on the glaze, and one small round pock mark, like a small bubble in the glaze popped. There is a small shallow chip on the under side edge that is under the glaze, so it is a manufacturing flaw rather than from being used. In the same spot on the edge is a small discoloration too, that looks like the brownish color in the pattern. See the last picture where a green arrow points to it.
