Seated pose, originally a golden honey plush now faded and greyed with wear, with blue embroidered eyes, a black stitched nose and a red embroidered smiling mouth. KEY FEATURES - 12 inches tall in the seated pose - Two original cloth tags, both still attached and both photographed - The first tag reads: Walt Disney Characters - (C) Walt Disney Productions - The second tag reads: CONTENTS ALL NEW MATERIAL - CALIFORNIA STUFFED TOYS - 611 So. Anderson St., Los Angeles, Cal. 90023 - Golden honey plush, soft-stuffed, in a seated pose, now faded to cream and grey - Blue embroidered eyes, black stitched nose, red embroidered mouth - No shirt, and none is included - The Walt Disney Productions name was retired in 1986 and the Disney Winnie the Pooh licence began in 1966, which places this bear between those dates CONDITION REPORT Pre-owned and well loved, sold as found. The pile is matted, thinned and greyed throughout, heaviest on the head, muzzle, arms and paws. There is brown staining on one arm and general grime across the body. Both cloth tags are stained and the Walt Disney Characters tag has brown spotting across the print, though both remain readable. Seams appear sound and no open holes or missing features were found. This bear has not been washed or restored. Everything described is shown in the photographs. A NOTE ON THE IDENTIFICATION The tags confirm the Disney licence and the maker, but they do not name a character. The face - the large black nose, the simple red smiling mouth, the small round ears and the golden honey pile still visible under the wear - reads as Winnie the Pooh. Pooh is also the Disney bear character of this period, and 12 inches is the size California Stuffed Toys made him in.
