Historical Background & Estimated Origins This estate collection was assembled over several decades and contains pieces believed to date primarily from the 1950s through the 1970s . Italian Hand-Carved Olive Wood Angel (Mid-1950s–1960s) Beautifully carved from richly grained olive wood in the traditional Val Gardena (South Tyrol, Italy) style. The underside retains traces of an old workshop stamp; however, it is too worn to positively identify the original maker. The carving reflects the exceptional craftsmanship associated with the renowned woodcarving studios of northern Italy. Two German Hand-Carved Wooden Angels (1950s–1960s) Traditional folk-art carvings believed to originate from the Bavarian or Black Forest regions of Germany. These charming figures feature natural stained finishes and classic mid-century styling. This is a vintage mixed-material collection that shows expected wear from age, holiday display, and family use over several decades. Condition includes: Paint crazing, age-related cracking, scratches, paint loss, and finish wear throughout the composition figures. Baby Jesus is missing one hand, cradle in good condition. Standing cow/ox has a broken horn. Sheep have broken legs that were previously repaired by a former owner. One small carved German wooden angel has a broken wing the other is in good condition. General scuffs, paint wear, and shelf wear consistent with age. The Italian hand-carved olive wood angel remains structurally sound with no major cracks or repairs, showing only light wear and a heavily worn workshop stamp on the underside. Several figures display age-related discoloration and surface wear typical of vintage European Christmas collectibles. No repairs have been attempted by the seller.
