The cast-metal decorative sections exhibit natural oxidation, surface rust, paint loss, discoloration and areas of remaining red, green, bronze/gold and dark original coloration consistent with considerable age. The finish has not been repainted or artificially restored . The extending lower rod incorporates a four-sided split metal sleeve that slides along the straight shaft, allowing the overall length to adjust from approximately 17½ inches retracted to 23 inches extended . Of the four matching pieces available, all four  currently slide and extend . There are no set screws or other visible retaining screws to prevent the sleeve from being pulled completely off the shaft, so care should be used when handling or testing the mechanism. The sliding sleeve on one piece has some looseness around the shaft, resulting in a small amount of movement or play when extended. This appears consistent with the original slip-fit construction and age-related wear. A buyer wishing to restore or use these as operating window hardware may wish to carefully clean and lubricate the sliding surfaces and, if desired, have the sleeve professionally adjusted for a tighter fit. The approximately 2-inch vertical pivot pin at the mounting end is present. Original wall mounting brackets/pivot sockets are not included. The pieces are being offered as antique architectural window hardware and decorative restoration components rather than as complete ready-to-install curtain systems.
