It is decorated with gorgeous pink roses and lush green leaves, and notice the falling rose petals! The plate has slightly pointed handles in the pattern named Undine, which is an example of German Art Nouveau, Jugendstil design. There is a hand tinted background, and gold trim. The dark green backstamp under the glaze has crossed lines with a crown in the center, Rosenthal spelled out, underneath Kronach-Bavaria. This backstamp dates the plate to 1901-1927 according to collectrosenthal.com. The back also says Handpainted in green on top of the glaze, which means it was hand painted by Rosenthal’s studio artist, rather than an amateur that bought the blank and painted it. It appears to me that the roses and leaves were applied by transfer and the handpainted applies to some accents made to the roses maybe or the silvery blueish background behind the roses. The cake plate is in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. The gold trim on top of the glaze has some rib wear on the edges and at the handles. Looking at an angle to the light, there are some light utensil marks and a bit of wear to the roses and the leaves. But those pink roses and falling rose petals! What a beautiful serving plate,that has been well taken care of over the years! Just lovely.  The diameter of the plate is 10 & 3/4 inches, and it is 11 & 3/4 inches wide at the handles.
