There is a lovely pattern of light blue and dark pink flowers. This set is so pretty! There is a slight mark on the outside front between the flowers that may be a transfer mark, but parts of it are shiny gold, so I think it’s a bit of gold that got on there while it was being decorated. This a unique vintage E B FOLEY bone china teacup and saucer, with a pale blue saucer and that pale blue on the inside of the cup instead of the outside. There is a lovely pattern of light blue and dark pink flowers. This set is so pretty! The saucer has slightly wavy edges, that make me think of a flower, and the cup’s edge has a barely wavy edge too. The edges are trimmed in shiny gold, which is also on the handle and the small foot of the cup. So pretty, to treat yourself to some tea or coffee, or simply display and admire! The backstamp was used between 1948-1963 according to foleychina.com. The date 1850 on the backstamp refers to when the factory "Foley China Works" was first in operation but it wasn’t owned by Elijah Brain (E.B.) until 1885 when he purchased the factory with partners. In 1958, Foley took over Coalport China and changed their name to Coalport. The teacup holds about 2/3 cup and is 3 & 3/8 inches in diameter and stands 2 & 7/8 inches tall. The saucer is 5 & 3/8 inches wide, and the set weighs about 7 & 1/2 ounces. The set is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is minimal wear on the pale blue because it feels like it is under the glaze. I noticed a bit of wear to the gold trim on the foot. I don’t see much, if any wear to the decoration. There is an imprinted design of small ribs in the china at the bottom of the cup, above the foot and the bone china is so fine I can see the ribbed design through the inside cup looking down in regular light!
