The edges of the cup and saucer have gold scrollwork, with outlined small gold daisies on the blue. The underside of the saucer is a glazed white porcelain but the inside of the cup has a slightly off white finish that is not as glossy. This is a pretty little porcelain demitasse cup and saucer set, made in Occupied Japan, decorated with white and orange flowers and petals outlined in gold on a sky blue background. The edges of the cup and saucer have gold scrollwork, with outlined small gold daisies on the blue. There is a beautiful sprig of gold flowers and leaves in the middle of the saucer and cup also, and a ring of gold laurel decorating the outside of the cup. The underside of the saucer is a glazed white porcelain but the inside of the cup has a slightly off white finish that is not as glossy. The outside of the loop handle is covered in a shiny gold. There is no manufacturer mark, but the bottom of both are stamped “made in occupied Japan”, so the set was made right after WWII, from 1945-1952 in Japan. The cup is 1 & 5/8 inches tall, 3 & 1/8 inches in diameter and holds 1/3 cup easily, 1/2 cup to the very top. The saucer is 4 & 7/8 inches in diameter. The porcelain of this set is so lightweight, both pieces weigh only 5 ounces! The last picture shows the set next to a regular sized teacup and saucer, so you can get a good idea of its size. The set is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is a bit of rub wear to the gold in places, and in the underside of the handle, which you can see on the picture where the cup is upside down. There is a bit of wear to the floral design in a few places too. But still a really delicate and pretty cup and saucer.
