Each seam will need an allowance of approximately .25" on each side or .5" per seam. The length of the jacket is measured from the bottom of the collar to the hem (bottom) of the coat. The sleeve is measured from the seam of the shoulder to the edge of the cuff. Most coats are clipped in the back to show shape for the main photo.
