This ring features a round natural "grape garnet" measuring 5 mm in diameter and weighing 0.60 carat.  Garnet is not really a kind of a gem, but rather a family of closely related gemstone species.  Technically these "grape garnets" are usually rhodolite garnets, but that depends on a rather specific refractive index range.  Rhodolite is a purplish variety of a mixed pyrope and almandite garnet species. Columbia Gem House has branded their deep-hued purple garnets from India as Grape Garnets (R).  This gem exhibits dark, strong, reddish purple color and is borderline eye-clean clarity with many light, scattered inclusions, and it is of very good overall cut.  Garnet is January's birthstone, and rhodolite has also been suggested as an alternate June birthstone; but this ring is a joy to own and wear regardless of your birth month! The center gem is flanked by six round full brilliant cut natural diamonds measuring 2.0 - 2.1 mm in diameter, and there are also two full cut accent diamonds each measuring 1.3 mm.  The diamonds have an estimated and a manufacturer's stated combined weight of 0.23 carat.  These diamonds have an average color graded at G/H and clarity at SI-2 with good overall cut.  The diamonds and the center garnet are all 100% genuine, natural, untreated, and unenhanced. The mounting is by the premium Los Angeles manufacturer Kattan Jewelry, style number GDR6090 / 7139. The ring is currently finger size 6.5 but is easily sizable by any competent jeweler.  It weighs 3.6 grams (over $285 just in melt value of the gold as we write this)!  This ring is solid gold and unworn; don't be duped into buying a cheap gold-plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff!
