Vintage Meito China in the "Woodrose Pattern", Ivory Porcelain Serving 13"x 9"   Description   **100% Authentic GUARANTEED**                 Description: You are looking at a Vintage Meito China in the "Woodrose Pattern", Ivory Porcelain Serving 13"x 9" Meito China is decorated with one of the most gorgeous patterns I have seen in a long time. It is called the "Woodrose" pattern which includes a flowering plant that forms a burl like structure that resembles a fluted wooden rose, hence the common name. I tend to gravitate to the colors found in this pattern, so I think it is stunning with its soft pinks, muted browns and sage green colors. The edges are trimmed in gold which adds another layer of warmth to the design all set on an ivory background. Meito China crown mark, Made in Japan on the bottom The Meito China company was founded in 1908 as Nagoya Seito Sho by former Noritake engineer Kotero Asukai. Production bore the backstamp "Meito," which means "fine sword" or "excellent sword." The name is, no doubt, a nod to the company's headquarters in Nagoya, Japan, a city famed for its shrine of the sacred sword that is one of Japan's crown jewels. As other Noritake engineers and artists joined Asukai, Meito wares came to closely resemble those of its competitor. In EXCELLENT! condition with NO! chips, nicks, cracks, or fleabites and no crazing. NO! marks or stains. The flowers are bright and vivid with NO! fading .
