I would also assume that when the lamp conversion was removed that the top probably cracked a bit. That’s when the repair became necessary I imagine. It was well done and while you can see it on close examination, once you step away it becomes more or less unnoticeable. It’s still a helluva piece and displays very well. The collection it came out of was displayed in a celebrated mansion. It stands just over 15” tall. It is quite thick and heavy pottery. Very substantial statement type piece. Ships ASAP!
