Loan Exhibition of Fifty Paintings by Anthony Van Dyck 1929 1st Ed DIA NM Funky Christmas / Everyday Funky   These books etc. come from my father-in-law's estate. We have an entire weaving and yarn shop inventory to sell that was filled to the brim.   This book was found in a locked glass bookcase in my father-in-law's yarn shop.   This book is in NEAR MINT condition.  The spine is unbroken. There is no dust jacket.   Actual front and back boards have very minimal damage. No marks or highlighting in text.  Pages are crisp, clean, unmarked and a bright white.   Cover lies flat.  All black and white illustrations and reproductions.  Illustrated, collectible, 1 st edition.    This VERY RARE book does not have a contents page. It is divided up into Early Period, Italian Period, Second Antwerp Period, and English Period.  Plate 43 has a notch and plate 43 has both a notch and small bend midway down the right edge of the page. A couple of the pages have a very light smear mirroring the plate on the opposite page which must have happened during the books production.  We see 2, but assume we missed something.  The front cover has a very light stain to the right of the illustration. The upper and lower spine has the cover pealing back which can easily be glued down and the top one is in the first page of book.   There are 3 vintage reproductions of either the DIA or a building in Antwerp (just a guess here) glued onto the first inside page.  We have no idea why 3 pictures are over each other and assume yet another production error.  The edges of the covers are bent, which we think was a design feature as they feel like a lighter weight than the rest of the cardboard cover; a kind of a overshoot. The main part of the cardboard covers the pages, the overshoot goes about 1/8 inch beyond.  Also, we found one other sold book like this, which also mentioned the edges being bent, but not that it overshot the main book.  So, design flaw??? Finally, this book is an ex-library book from back in the dark ages, when people didn't mess with other people's things.  This book has a light stamp on the lower right front page corner that says, 'McMichael Intermediate School Library.' There is NOTHING on the spine, NO other stamps on the pages, and NO evidence of ever having a library card holder.  That very light stamp is the only indication this was a library book. Please see pictures. Sorry!   Note: We are running out of estate books and will be slowly changing over to their other possessions – some serious, some MCM, some just funky, or kitschy.   Others are Depression era.   Some will be brand new items, still in their packaging, and others will be more mainstream books (from one of the Grandma’s) or some of our personal books or collectables, as we are not leaving this mess to our kids.   We hope you will have fun and stay with us.     Shipping – All books are shipped on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday on the first day possible after payment is received around 8 to 9 AM. They are shipped by Media Mail in heavy brown paper, similar to a grocery paper bag.  All wrapping and shipping materials are recycled from the cardboard to bubble wrap to 50 year old envelopes.
