Title:  Vintage 1960s Indian Mughal Octagonal Marriage Box – Hand Painted Figures Description: A stunning piece of mid-century Indian folk art, this 8-inch octagonal wooden marriage box (or  Sindoor  box) dates back to the 1960s. It features intricate, hand-painted polychrome artwork in the traditional Mughal style, common to the Rajasthan region. Artistic Detail: The box is meticulously decorated with alternating male and female figures. The Lid:  Features figures in active, standing, or dancing poses. The Base:  Features figures in a seated, meditative, or courtly pose. Alignment:  Interestingly, the sexes are aligned vertically, so the standing male on the lid sits directly above the seated male on the base, creating a symmetrical narrative around the piece.
