The hand-painted display on the two larger plates are virtually as nice as new. The smaller scalloped plate shows slightly heavier use or handling, including several small rim paint rubs (or the painter missed a few spots, it actually could be this upon closer inspection and not from rubs), but otherwise love interior painted scene. Hand-painted, these quite scarce and ultra-vintage Japanese colorful porcelain decorative plate trio features lovely Japanese geisha garden scenes with flowering shrubs, lanterns, and pavilions. Material: Fine porcelain pottery with a glossy white glaze and multicolor hand-painted enamels in rust red, green, yellow, lavender, and cobalt blue. Design details: Coordinated set of three plates including two 7.25-inch round plates with smooth rims and one smaller 4.9-inch plate with a softly scalloped edge, each showing kimono-clad figures strolling through a landscaped garden of chrysanthemums and other blossoms. Backstamp on each underside reads MADE IN JAPAN in red lettering, indicating mid-century Japanese export production. Overall, the backs show some signs of age, handling, and prior display are present, but no  cracks, no  chips, and no  breaks. The hand-painted display on the two larger plates are virtually as nice as new. One of the larger plates on back has a glaze bubble from when it was made that is not  the result of any handling or damage. The smaller scalloped plate shows slightly heavier use or handling, including several small rim paint rubs ( or  the painter missed a few spots, it actually could be this upon closer inspection and not from rubs), but otherwise love interior painted scene. All three show minor paint rubs around the outer rim from the side. The back presents more handling and spots from its display over the decades.
