Antique Josephinenhütte / Moser Bohemian Engraved Crystal Chalice Vase c. 1915 - Sun Purple Shift & Signed. Attribution & Origin: Bohemian / Silesian Art Deco masterwork, heavily matching the design and cutting style of Josephinenhütte or Moser (circa 1910–1920). Antique Josephinenhütte / Moser Bohemian Engraved Crystal Chalice Vase c. 1915 - Sun Purple Shift & Signed Description:  Up for sale is an exceptional, museum-quality piece of early 20th-century Central European art glass. This antique single-piece chalice vase (or ceremonial cabinet cup) heavily attributes to the legendary Josephinenhütte (Silesia/Bohemia border) or Moser workshops, dating to approximately 1910–1920.  This piece features a paper-thin trumpet bowl exquisitely hand-engraved with fine intaglio wheel work, depicting a graceful crane or heron in flight amid textured chrysanthemums and asters. The bowl sits seamlessly atop a heavy, solid-paneled, column pedestal base.  Please hand wash only.  Others have been displayed inn Museums in Germany. Key Collector Features: Artisan Signed: Features a rare, tiny, wheel-engraved cursive "f-j" master artist monogram discreetly placed on one of the polished lower facets of the base. Manganese Solarization: Crafted from authentic historical lead crystal containing manganese dioxide. It is beautifully solarized, shifting to a soft, magical lavender/pinkish-purple hue when placed in strong, direct sunlight. Captive Teardrop Bubble: A deliberate, perfectly centered controlled air-twist teardrop inclusion is trapped deep inside the solid crystal base. Flawless Lapidary Work: The bottom of the heavy foot is ground perfectly flat, mirror-smooth, and polished with no raw pontil scar. Acoustics: High lead content provides a stunningly clear, long-sustaining, musical ring when lightly tapped. Dimensions:  Height: 4-5/8 inches;  Rim Diameter: 3-1/8 inches Condition:  The body of the vase and the intricate engraving are in beautiful antique condition with excellent clarity. Please note there is a small, honest conchoidal (shell-shaped) impact fracture chip on one corner of the bottom base edge (visible in photos). And a   nick to outer edge of rim. It does not affect structural integrity and is completely hidden out of sight when the vase is displayed sitting upright.  This is a spectacular, beautifully intact slice of glassmaking history perfect for any advanced Art Deco or Bohemian crystal collection. Please review all photos closely and feel free to reach out with any questions!   Attribution & Origin: Bohemian / Silesian Art Deco masterwork, heavily matching the design and cutting style of Josephinenhütte or Moser (circa 1910–1920). Artisan Signature: Features a rare, tiny, wheel-engraved cursive "f-j" master artist monogram on one of the polished base facets. Material & Chemistry: Heavy, high-grade lead crystal that rings beautifully when tapped. Displays authentic manganese solarization , shifting to a soft lavender/pinkish-purple hue under strong direct sunlight. Craftsmanship: Intricate intaglio wheel engraving depicting a flying crane/heron among large chrysanthemums. The thick, solid-paneled pedestal base features a deliberate, centrally trapped teardrop air bubble. Dimensions: Stands 4-5/8" tall with a 3-1/8" rim diameter.   Decoding the Combined "f-j" Cipher  In historic Central European glass cutting, a cursive "f" and "j" intertwined stands for the German phrase "Fein-Justiert" (Finely Adjusted/Balanced) or, more commonly, represents the signature of a master artist affiliated with Josephinenhütte (where the "J" stands for the studio name, and the "f" stands for fecit —Latin for "made this").   During the early 1900s, master glass engravers who achieved the rank of Meister were uniquely permitted to micro-engrave their personal monograms onto the polished side facets of high-end, single-piece commissions.
