Beautiful, vintage Japanese Ao-Oribe (Green Oribe) style matcha tea bowl (chawan), perfect for traditional tea ceremony practice or display. This piece features the classic, vibrant copper-green glaze characteristic of historic Mino/Seto area kilns, beautifully contrasted against a buff-colored unglazed clay body. The exterior is hand-decorated with traditional vertical iron-brown underglaze stripes (tokusa) and showcases prominent, rustic horizontal throwing ridges (himegaki) that give it an organic, comfortable feel in the hands. Markings: Features a crisp, circular impressed potter's/kiln seal mark on the unglazed base (kodai).
