Each jar rises from a plain unglazed footring with the characteristic russet firing skin, and the lids are decorated en suite with a floral roundel to the top. Sold as a pair. Savannah, Georgia Pair of Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Ginger Jars A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jars, each of ovoid form with a domed lid, hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue with peony and chrysanthemum blossoms above sprays of berries and foliage, 20th century. Each jar rises from a plain unglazed footring with the characteristic russet firing skin, and the lids are decorated en suite with a floral roundel to the top. Sold as a pair. Materials Porcelain, underglaze cobalt blue Dimensions 11 in H x 9 3/4 in Diameter (each) Condition Good antique condition with wear consistent with age. Both lids show small losses and flakes to the glaze at the rim, and there is light craquelure and scattered kiln grit throughout, typical of the period and manufacture. A.W.
