View RPPC postcard uncaptioned Montpelier VT flood street scene pre-1940 State & Main with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. There is no caption on the card itself. A faint number "52" is on the front. On the back is handwritten (later) "Montpelier, VT". On the middle right is the Montpelier Candy Kitchen. A clock showing 7:40 is at lower left. This card: a nice real photo (actual photograph) vintage postcard.  There is no caption on the card itself.  A faint number "52" is on the front.  On the back is handwritten (later) "Montpelier, VT".  Looking at other postcards of Montpelier flooding, this is definitely Montpelier, VT, and is likely to be the corner of State Street and Main Street.  This would be either 1927 or 1936, most likely 1927 based on stampbox dating method. There are several readable business signs with magnification.  On the middle right is the Montpelier Candy Kitchen.  A clock showing 7:40 is at lower left.  With magnification, it can be seen that people are looking out the third floor windows on the corner building.  A sign for C. H. Baldwin is also at right.  Looking online at modern street views, these buildings are still standing, and building at far right of card is the building of 12 State Street today.  The view is looking east toward Main Street according to online mapping today.  Guaranteed old and original.  Postally unused.  NOKO stampbox.     My scanner will sometimes give a pink cast to the scanned image, but the actual card is just the photographic sepia gray tones.   Card condition, style, design, etc. is as shown.  Please ask any questions you wish; earlier in the listing period is better for correspondence.  Now that I am providing detailed, high resolution scanning, I will spend less time describing, more time listing.  Please view posted images carefully, and use this general note as well: Condition: Average to Good, with soiling and aging.  Corner tip bumping and some rounding, some light to moderate surface wear and marks on front, a few smudges and a spot stain (middle front), and on the back soiling, age darkening of the paper, some stain and spot marks, and some smudges.
