The base is a wire starfish form which is covered with cotton nautical rope in a woven design. This is a very pretty, nautical wall accent done in neutral tones to enhance any coastal decor. The base is a wire starfish form which is covered with cotton nautical rope in a woven design. The starfish was then sprayed with Scotch Guard brand spray to keep it looking fresh. An attractive arrangement of shells, sliced shells and a pretty cornhusk rose is glued to the front of the starfish with a soft bow of natural raffia and 1/2 wide natural jute lacy ribbon trim which adds to the nautical flair. The starfish measures 17" x 17" and is approximately 4" in depth.  It weighs 3 1/2 pounds due to the nautical rope wrapped around the form. Because the starfish is done with wrapped cotton rope, I do not recommend it be placed in an exposed outdoor location. This would be fine on a covered porch or entryway, tiki bar or covered lanai.
