Vintage Fostoria Colony “Small Compote”, candy/nut dish, buffet piece Description:   Offering a small compote (no lid) produced by Fostoria Glass Co. in the Colony pattern.   It can serve multiple purposes from a candy/nut dish, to a desert serving bowl and more. Colony by Fostoria is a clear, heavy glass in a swirl pattern.   This item was named a “Small Compote” bowl by Fostoria in its catalog. The pattern is discontinued, being produced from 1940 – 1973 in Moundsville, West Virginia. Fostoria was considered one of the top producers in the U.S. of elegant glass. Dimensions :  T op rim is approximately 6” in diameter. Base is 4” in diameter. The piece is 4” high. Condition : EXCELLENT: No obvious flaws. Close to new condition. No chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or staining. You will see straight line mold marks in the base where the pieces were fused. There are a few as-made imperfections in the base, such as bubbles and indentations. Please enlarge and examine all photos for a complete condition assessment.
