View VINTAGE STERLING SILVER 1 3/4" HANDMADE ORTHODOX CROSS CRUCIFIX "SAVE & PROTECT" with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. 1 3/4" tall with rotating bale; weight approx. The back bar of its large rotating bale bears two punch marks, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity. In addition, it was tested positive for the "sterling" purity of silver. Vintage solid sterling silver larger and sturdy (approx. 1 3/4" tall with rotating bale; weight approx. 3.9 g) Crucifix pendant featuring  an artisan-style design of the traditional  Slavonic Orthodox "budded" cross with a relief  iconic image of the Crucified Savior and hand-engraved inscriptions, whereas the reverse displays  the traditional Orthodox "Protection" prayer .   The back bar of its large rotating bale bears two punch marks, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity.  In addition, it was tested positive for the "sterling" purity of silver. The item has visual vintage appearance with signs of aging and wear that might include diminished quality of the artwork, deformations of its original shape, scratches, dents, and patches of discoloration/patina. The size and weight of the item are shown on the photographs for this listing. The obverse displays an image of the Crucifixion recreated according to the ancient Orthodox iconographic tradition.  The  top "budded" end of the vertical crossbar just above the Savior's Cross   displays the "INRI" nameplate just above Christ's head inscribed with Cyrillic letters as "IHЦI".  The left and right side budded ends of the horizontal crossbar of the pendant bear the Sacred Name of Jesus Christ inscribed as the "IC XC" Greek Christogram, the "IC" on the left, and the "XC" on the right.  The bottom budded end of the vertical crossbar displays the Greek "NIKA" ("VICTORIOUS") inscription made in a Cyrillic transliteration as "HIKA", an ancient symbol of Christ's victory over sin and death achieved on the Cross.  The reverse bears a hand-engraved inscription of the traditional Slavonic Orthodox prayer meaning "Save and Protect".  The prayer reminds us that Christ the Savior is with us to save and protect a person wearing the cross from every evil and all enemies visible and invisible.  Please examine all photographs carefully and do your own research if necessary.
