The card is embossed. Up for sale is an antique Christmas postcard made by Raphael Tuck & Sons which has not been posted but there is some writing on the top back of the card. I t is a standard postcard size of 3 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches.  The back is undivided.  Date creation date of the card is pre-1907 making it over 100 years.  This particular card, we believe, was created using the "Oliette" treatment on the surface of the card where the land portion of the card is seen.   The Oilette varnish was meant to add a level of sophistication and artistry to the postcard, setting it apart from standard printed cards. The embossed, textured surface and glossy finish gave the impression of a miniature oil painting. Raphael Tuck & Sons (RT&S) did some black and white printing in England where they were based but nearly all RT&S color cards were printed in Germany.   The card is embossed.
