Vintage 1930's Pyralin Du Barry Celluloid Art Deco Vanity Dresser Set. Set is in vintage pre-owned used condition with some wear, staining, and cracks, small jewelry box also has a broken hinge on one end. Set includes 2 nail buffers, one jewelry box, one tray, one brush organizer box, one round container, one brush, and two hair receiver boxes with hole. A hair receiver's purpose was to collect shed hair from brushes for repurposing, common from Victorian times through the 1950s, used to create hairpieces ('ratts") for volume, stuff pincushions/pillows, or make sentimental hair jewelry, making it an early form of recycling beauty waste. Still a great historical set with a lot of history with one of the first commercially available forms of plastic. Pyralin was DuPont's brand name for celluloid, one of the first commercially available plastics, made from nitrocellulose.
