This piece is likely from southern Virginia (Jamestown style) and includes the potter's mark, or brand, on the bottom of the vessel. It is dated 1980.  Salt-glazed pottery can hold water but is also just decorative.  This banded salt-glazed pitcher is a particularly fine piece of pottery art.  Great vintage condition, with no chips, crazing or flaws.  Measures:  5 1/2 inches tall 3 inches in diameter at the mouth of the pitcher (body is slightly wider) Condition: New.
