BUY NOW The brooch has a hallmark of Rafael Melendez “RM”, a silversmith from Taxco Mexico, and the sterling’s purity is marked .980. The dome in the center of the brooch is a feature on numerous Melendez pieces. RAFAEL MELENDEZ : Rafael Melendez was one of the notable Mexican silversmiths from Taxco in the mid-20th century. He gained experience working under the famed William Spratling. There he learned the dedication needed to create high quality jewelry and create original design. Around 1939 Melendez left Spratling’s to establish his own workshop. His silver pieces adhered to the techniques and a designs he developed in his mentoring. Rafael Melendez’s output was limited compared to some of the other silversmiths. Thus, his pieces are somewhat rare. CONDITION : Photos are of the exact item you will receive. Photos (more than one) of the damaged areas to your purchase. Steps for me to File a Claim The Buyer is to throw nothing out. (Save the damaged item, box and all packing materials.) Provide me with a description of the damage and photos. I will file a claim submitting the above from #1. The Shipper may require seeing the item. If so, it must be repackaged using the original box and packaging materials. Arrangements will be made for the Shipping Service to receive the item. Once the Shipper examines the item and renders their decision, closure will occur. Please note, I do not know how long it will take the Shipping Service to make their decision on the claim.
