Made in Japan, these cute ceramic chef figurines are nearly identical. Only the "salt" and "pepper" designations on their chef hats and the placement of the pocket on their aprons differentiate the two. In addition, since they're hand-painted, you can see the individual brush stokes on each piece, which obviously differ between both figures. They stand 6 inches tall, and measure roughly 2 1/2 inches in width. Their hats are nearly two inches wide, while they rest atop a 1 3/4 inch base. Although it's an original vintage set, the salt and pepper shakers are fully-functional with small holes on top for shaking and plastic stoppers in the bottom to keep the salt and pepper inside once they've been filled. They also have no cracks or other structural damage, but the painting on both figures does show signs of fading and/or discoloration due to the age of the set and normal wear and tear. For example, the painting has faded on Salt's chef hat, and Pepper's hat is chipped (see pictures).
