This hand carved wooden sculpture depicts the Madonna holding the Christ Child in a traditional devotional pose and is carved from a dense dark stained tropical hardwood with a rich aged patina. The folk style carving features stylized garment details, a cherub face on the globular base, and it may possibly be of Filipino and/or Spanish Colonial devotional origin, though this attribution is not confirmed. Measuring approximately 18 inches tall and weighing about 8.72 pounds, the sculpture shows age related wear including surface scuffs, natural wood cracking, and some residue on the bottom from previous mounting, consistent with older hand carved religious folk art. * SALE IS ONLY FOR ITEMS PICTURED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
