The bowl features gracefully inverted, scalloped corners and a slightly flared, footed profile. Gilt Rim: The entire rim is accented with a hand-painted gold border. Very minimal, expected storage wear to the gold trim line along the rim. Up for sale is a stunning vintage Japanese porcelain square serving bowl decorated in the traditional Imari palette. The bowl features gracefully inverted, scalloped corners and a slightly flared, footed profile. The interior is heavily decorated with an asymmetric layout: Center Medallion: Features a hand-painted scene depicting a blue scholar’s rock or stylized tree root surrounded by blooming prunus/cherry blossoms and floral branches. Border Panels: The steep sides feature repeating geometric diaper patterns, interlocking diamond grids (⁠hishi-mon⁠), and alternating iron-red medallions filled with white chrysanthemums and fine gold gilt tendril details. Gilt Rim: The entire rim is accented with a hand-painted gold border. The underside features a formal red square four-character seal mark framed by a traditional key-fret border, along with a partial vintage silver foil "Made in Japan" export sticker. Measurements: Width/Length: Approx. 7.75 inches square Depth/Height: Approx. 2.5 inches deep Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or fleabites anywhere along the scalloped edges or the raised foot ring.
