The sprouting vine motif framing the image of the Savior's Cross could symbolize its life-giving power, and also refer to the preaching of Christ: "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John 15:5). Vintage solid sterling silver smaller- to medium-sized but sturdy (approx. 1 1/4" tall with fixed bale loop; weight approx. 1.8 g) Crucifix pendant featuring fine Slavonic Orthodox ornate openwork design with a high-relief image of the Crucified Savior depicted according to the Orthodox iconographic tradition, with His feet uncrossed and with round halo around His head. The obverse is decorated with four clear gemstones positioned in the four crossbar ends that might have a symbolic meaning as the Four Evangelists around Christ Himself. The sprouting vine motif framing the image of the Savior's Cross could symbolize its life-giving power, and also refer to the preaching of Christ: "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John 15:5). The reverse displays an inscription of the traditional Slavonic Orthodox prayer meaning "Save and Protect" , which reminds us that Christ the Savior is with us to save and protect a person wearing the cross from every evil and all enemies visible and invisible. The vertical crossbar is filled with vine-like motif complementary to the openwork frame of the Savior’s Cross. The large soldered fixed ring of the crucifix bears two punch marks, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity. It has been confirmed for the pendant using the silver acid test.
