The "5-21-90" date stamp identifies as an approved reproduction pump plate manufactured with the May 21, 1990 date.  Signs bearing this exact date stamp (which usually includes "Made in U.S.A." on the lower left and the date on the lower right) are well-documented among petroliana collectors.  They were produced as a high-quality run by Ande Rooney, Inc who mass-produced heavy porcelain-enameled nostalgic signs during the late 1980s and early 1990s. On original vintage signs from the 1950s, the "T" in the Texaco star has a white outline.  On the 5-21-90 versions, the "T" is usually outlined in black, and the "Made in U.S.A." font is noticeably larger.  However, this particular sign has a white outline around the "T" just like the old versions.  While not an original pump plate that would have been actually used on a gas pump, these real porcelain signs are still highly collectible in their own right as 30+ year-old advertising.
